Estrace (Generic)

Generic Estrace is prescribed to treat vasomotor symptoms of the menopause, vulval and vaginal atrophy, hypoestrogenism caused by hypogonadism or primary ovarian failure, breast cancer, prostate androgen-dependent carcinoma and for prevention of osteoporosis.

Generic Estrace should be taken in strict compliance with your doctor's instructions and directions on the prescription label. Do not change the period of use or dosage without prior medical consult.

Long-term use of the medication may increase the risks of breast, ovarian or uterine cancer. Consult your doctor before taking the medication for a long period of time.

If you experience any symptoms associated with allergies such as difficulty breathing, hives, swollen tongue etc., stop using the medication and seek urgent medical help.

Stop taking the medication and seek urgent medical help if you have any of the following side effects: irregular vaginal bleeding, chest pain, pain in the arm and shoulders, perspiration, nausea, feeling ill, one-sided body numbness or weakness, headache, confusion, sight or speech problems, loss of balance, cough and wheezing, uneven breathing, accelerated heart rate, leg pain, swollen or red-colored legs, nausea, vomiting, thirst, loss of appetite, fatigue, restlessness, feeling of breast lump, feeling close to fainting, tender or swollen stomach, yellow-colored eyes or skin.

Notify your doctor if any of the following conditions apply to you: vaginal bleeding, cancer, blood clotting, heart disorders or liver disease.

Refrain from smoking while taking the medication, as it may increase the risk of blood clots or heart disorders.

Pregnant women must not take Generic Crestor due possible harm to the unborn baby or birth defects.

Consult your doctor before taking the medication for a long period of time.

Inform your doctor if you are taking any other prescription or non-prescription medicines such as blood thinners e.g. warfarin (Coumadin), phenobarbital (Luminal, Solfoton), ritonavir (Norvir), phenytoin (Dilantin), cimetidine (Tagamet), rifampin (Rifadin, , Rifamate, Rifater Rimactane) or carbamazepine (Carbatrol, Tegretol), antifungal medications such as ketoconazole (Extina, , Nizoral, Ketozole Xolegal), antibiotics such as clarithromycin (Biaxin) or erythromycin (E-Mycin, Erythrocin, Ery-Tab).

If you have missed your dose of Generic Estrace, make sure to take it as soon as possible. However, two doses should never be taken at the same time, so if the time for the next dose has almost come, DO NOT take the dose you have missed.

Generic Estrace should be stored at room temperature between 59°F and 86°F (15°C and 30°C) away from moisture and light, out of reach of children and pets.
